PEP Housing developed and owns this tax credit sponsored affordable senior housing project. The Project is next door to the Grace Hudson Memorial Museum in Ukiah. The Sun House Senior Housing project pays homage to the Museum’s Sun House (the original home of Grace and John Hudson) through stylistic, and material similarities, respectful placement and orientation on the site.

The design incorporates, universal design features, and sustainable building constructions. The Community Center provides a library, kitchen, mail pick-up, and a large gathering space to promote interaction between tenants. Outdoor areas include a footpath to the Northwest Pacific Rail Trail, outdoor vegetable plots, and a dog run. Sustainable elements include south facing roofs with photo voltaic panels supplying all house electrical needs, buildings systems that are 45% more efficient than minimum state standards, fly-ash concrete additives and sustainable finish materials.
